the-dalmore-17-year-highland-single-malt-scotch-whisky
The Dalmore 17 Year Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Dalmore 17 Year Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the first new permanent expression added to The Dalmore's Principal Collection since 2022, slotting in between the core 15 and 18 Year releases. Matured first in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then finished in a trio of rare sherry casks from a century-long partnership with the Gonzalez Byass bodega, Amoroso, Apostoles, and Matusalem. Bottled at 42% ABV (84 proof).

A Trio of Rare Sherry Casks

The Dalmore has worked with the Gonzalez Byass bodega for over a century, giving the distillery access to exceptionally old and rare sherry casks that most producers simply can't source. For the 17 Year, that partnership delivers three distinct cask types: Amoroso, Apostoles, and Matusalem, each contributing its own layer of dried fruit, nuttiness, and depth to the final whisky.

Delicate and Sweet, Between Two Icons

Sitting between Dalmore's 15 and 18 Year expressions, the 17 Year offers a more delicate and sweeter profile than either. The initial ex-bourbon maturation lays down sweet vanilla and warming nutmeg, which the sherry finish then builds into The Dalmore's signature rich, chocolate-and-orange house style.

Tasting Notes

Nose: poached pears, forest berries, sweet toffee, and orange marmalade.

Palate: dark chocolate, dried fruit, toffee, and warm baking spice.

Finish: dark chocolate orange, rich dried fruit, with lingering cinnamon and nutmeg.

How to Enjoy It

Sip it neat and let it rest in the glass for a few minutes to fully open up, or add a drop of water to draw out more of the dried fruit and spice.
