Don Fulano Fuerte is the original overproof; one of a kind, it is profoundly aromatic, full of spice and flavor and yet mellow with floral glimmers of Jasmin and orange blossom. It brings a direct connection with the agave fields, with its terroir, with its patient fermentation and its masterful distillation in copper alembics. Full bodied and generous in its complexity, its finish is full and prolonged. One for the connoisseur and epicurean, to sip neat or unbeatable in a fantastic cocktail.
This overproof tequila fully shows its complex terroir, high minerality and wet cement.
Don Fulano is the result of a deep dive into the elements that make tequila one of the greatest spirits, distilled into a product over decades of trial and error by Enrique and Sergio, who are 4th and 5th generation agave growers and 30+ year distillers. It’s born from the desire to achieve a product that is at the same time artisanal, driven by its terroir, with all the complexities of a natural, authentic tequila, but also with the structure, elegance, and sophistication of a world class spirit.
Don Fulano is the product of Enrique Fonseca and Sergio Mendoza Fonseca, 4th generation agave farmers and distillers. Their story begins in the town of Atotonilco in the Highlands of Jalisco, home to some of the most appreciated tequilas, where their great grandfathers began cultivating agave 140 years ago. Descendants of Portuguese immigrants, the Fonseca’s came to the highlands where they became well known farmers, owning the main bodega in the heart of town where they traded with the essentials; flour, coffee, grains, dairy products and meats of different sorts, most of which they farmed and produced in their ranches around town. In the late 1800s, the Fonseca’s started planting agave to supply the first tequila distillers that established in the highlands; Tres Magueyes which later became Don Julio, El Centenario and La Vencedora, two distilleries that produce the renowned Siete Leguas and El Viejito. As the years unfolded, their love for agave made their estate grow becoming major agave farmers in the region and later in the state, suppling agave to most tequila producers, both in the highlands as in the valleys.
