Approachable quality. Ready to drink now or age for up to three years, here's a wine with vibrant flavors and perfectly balanced oak aging. A layered, smooth red wine from a selection of Marlborough vineyards.

This aromatic Pinot Noir starts with concentrated blackberry and dark cherry combined with hints of mocha and a rich smoky char from French oak. On the palate, ripe fruit flavours of plum unfold to a earthy wild spice with a ripe and juicy finish. Concentrated & structured with serious length, this is classic Central Otago Pinot Noirat its best.

Matua started out of a small tin shed in West Auckland in 1969, founded by brothers Bill and Ross Spence. Third generation winemakers with a vision to carve a new path for New Zealand wine, they planted a "fruit salad" vineyard of varieties from around the globe to see which ones took off best. One shone spectacularly - Sauvignon Blanc, and in 1974 Matua produced 400 bottles of NZ’s first. It was not a well-known variety then - yet today NZ Sauvignon Blanc is a global phenomenon that has awoken the world’s eyes to NZ wine. Today Matua is not just about producing great Sauvignon Blanc – it is one of NZ’s most awarded and internationally acclaimed wineries, which has also made a name for quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, amongst other great drops. Matua continues with determination, passion and innovation to take its position on the world stage.
