An exceptional Canadian Whisky imported and aged for 30 years creating a complex, dynamic whisky with worldly characteristics. Finished in Pineau Des Charentes casks, a delicate regional aperitif of western France, which has recently exploded on the high-end cocktail scene. The complex whiskey with layers of favors and history is perfectly rounded with the delicate fnish of fresh grapes and eau-de-vie from Maritime France.
In July Rare Hare Spirits will introduce Lucky Bastard, a 30-year-old Canadian whiskey that has been meticulously crafted to perfection. After aging for over three decades in Canada and USA, our master blender secondarily finished the mature whiskey in Pineau Des Charentes casks, creating a unique and exceptional flavor profile. Pineau Des Charentes is a blend of fresh grape juice and young eau-de-vie (Cognac), which is then aged in oak barrels, resulting in a wonderfully round and balanced body.
When searching for the right secondary finish, we sought something distinct and less familiar to complement this whiskey's complex build. We drew inspiration from the successful finish of our 1953 whiskey in XXO cognac casks but wanted something with a delicate finish to balance our 30-year-old whiskey's layered flavors. The happy marriage of grapes and cognac in Pineau Des Charentes casks provided the perfect balance we were looking for in a single barrel.
The name "Lucky Bastard" pays homage to Playboy's gaming legacy and signifies the exclusivity of this limited-edition release. Only 4,000 bottles of this exceptional whiskey are expected to be produced, making each bottle a rare and coveted find. Those lucky enough to secure a bottle will truly be considered fortunate
