Confiscated is a full flavored and full-bodied bourbon whiskey that pays tribute to the barrels of Kentucky Owl® seized by the US government during Prohibition.

Kentucky Owl® was founded by Charles Mortimer Dedman in 1879, operating until prohibition became law in 1916. A hundred years later, the great, great-grandson of C.M. Dedman revived the family business and set about blending a bourbon worthy of the Kentucky Owl® name. Six years of rigorous research and experimentation led to the first new whiskey to carry the Kentucky Owl® name.

Growing up in his family's Beaumont Inn, Dixon Dedman had heard stories of his great-great grandfather, C.M. Dedman's, rise and fall in the bourbon industry many times. After receiving a large parcel of land from his adopted father, a town judge, as a wedding gift, C.M. created a distillery at plot No. 16 in 1879. Feds seized the Dedman Distillery's bourbon for safekeeping in 1916, later claiming fires led to the stock's disappearance. In 1919, the family had come into ownership of the Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg and some 85 years later, Dixon found himself running the Inn. Between washing dishes and serving whiskey to travelers along Kentucky's Bourbon Trail, he'd dream of one day bringing back Kentucky Owl. He began to research hand-selecting and blending high-quality barrels to recreate a new, small-batch Kentucky Owl. In 2014, nearly 100 years after the original Kentucky Owl Distillery No. 16 was shuttered, Dixon realized a long-held family dream to bring back the family bourbon. Since then, he's introduced nine batches of bourbon, including Confiscated, which pays tribute to his great-great grandfathers tribulations, and three batches of rye whiskey. For each batch of Kentucky Owl, Dixon handpicks barrels, often re-barrels or re-chars them, and artfully blends distillates to achieve a taste and quality he's proud of.
