Prelius is the varietal line of Castelprile. The label represents the fluid, the essence of the ancient costal lake of Prelius, what now is known as the Maremma Toscana around Grosseto. The lake has slowly disappeared due to the drainage during the 1930’s and now the only fluid that’s left is the excellent wine making tradition of the region. The vineyards of Prelius are located on a hilltop along the shores of the ancient lake, 5 miles from the sea facing the majestic Tuscan Archipelago.

Floral aromas merge with hints of racy, citrus, pineapple and mineral characters coupled with a soft marine influence. On the palette, it is a refreshing, elegant wine while retaining balanced acidity. The mouth feel bursts with fresh fruit and lingers on the finish.

In the hilly amphitheater of Tuscany’s Maremma region, the vineyards organically farmed by the Mascheroni Stianti family in Castelprile, overlook the ancient coastal lake named Prelius. The Castelprile Estate, is the first venture outside of Chianti Classico for the Mascheroni-Stianti family, leaders in Tuscany’s organic viticultural movement. The round logo on the label reflects the fluid nature of the coastal lake Prelius, that was slowly filled by the Ombrone river floods. and at last completely drained in the early 20th century. As the area has evolved, it has established itself as an excellent location for viticulture and winemaking, a foundation set by the Benedictine monks.

The 22-hectare Castelprile estate, purchased in 2007, is located in the municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia in the Grosseto area, and is neighbored by the vineyards of Antinori and Bellavista.‚Äã The Castelprile blue logo reflects the fluid nature of the coastal lake of Prelius. As the area has evolved, it has established itself as an excellent location for viticulture and winemaking. The Castelprile vineyards are located on a hilltop along what was once the shore of the ancient lake, 5 kilometers from the Tyrrhenian Sea.
