Renato Ratti founded his namesake winery in 1965 and was the first person to map the region of Barolo and classify Barolo’s top vineyard sites and commissioned soil studies and map the Crus of Barolo, elevating the region to one of distinct terroirs. After Renato Ratti’s death in the 1980’s, his son, Pietro, took over the family estate and continued his father’s work, and was twice elected president of the Barolo consortium. Now, the Renato Ratti estate is known for a classic expression of La Morra Barolo, Barbera D’Asti and a Nebbiolo.
